Customize Your Lightsaber
In order to build a lightsaber that is as accurate as the ones, you see in the movies and video games you need to know beforehand what are the components that are used to build a lightsaber. The lightsaber is mainly made of two parts: the hilt and the blade. Although it seems simple there are much smaller components inside the hilt and the blade that you need to know about. We can break these down to:
Hilt
Blade
Coupler
Emitter
Pommel
Button(with or without the light)
Sound
Effects
In addition to this, you also have to consider other things and accessories such as coupler, blade length, blade plug, battery, speaker, brightness, and effects while crafting custom lightsabers.
Hilts
The hilt is the part of the lightsaber that your hand holds while swinging a lightsaber at your opponents or while moving into a stance while cosplaying as your favorite Jedi or Sith warriors. The right choice of the hilt is largely dependent on your personal choice for style and aesthetics as well as practical considerations for housing the electronics & soundboard. The length and thickness of the hilt are also important as it should grip smoothly into the size of the user’s hands.
Blades
The blade is the narrowest part of your lightsaber, but it is the part that is directly involved in combat while striking an opponent’s lightsaber blade which is why it is important to choose the right blade that is tough enough to withstand the harsh lightsaber strikes in intense combat of Jedi vs Sith. There are different blade types to choose from as well as the length of the blade that goes into determining the right blade choice for your unique custom lightsabers. The blade is made from a polycarbonate tube that can diffuse the light and also withstand dueling.
As with any lightsaber, the choice of components first and foremost depends on what you require from the lightsaber. There are different blade choices based on your needs. If you are looking for a blade for cosplay that displays the maximum brightness with a realistic Star Wars look then that blade might not be suitable for heavy dueling. The two most common types of blades are:
Midgrade – These are best utilized for light dueling but provide maximum brightness for a lightsaber. You can easily perform spinning techniques due to their lightweight. Midgrade blades slightly bend on impact but do not break. These are best for cosplayers as they provide realistic photos.
Heavy grade – These blades are twice as heavy as midgrade blades and the polycarbonate tubing wall is twice as thick. Heavy grade blades are best suited for heavy dueling and they last longer due to their durability.
Apart from this, there are standard blades and Neopixel blades. The Neopixel blade forms the Neopixel lightsaber that has LEDs inside the blade rather than inside the hilt like a standard RGB lightsaber which allows it to shine brighter and provide more effects.
